What are supervised visitations?

Supervised visitation allows parents to have visitation with their child(ren) in a safe environment with a third party supervisor overseeing the interactions between parent and child(ren). Supervised visitation can be ordered by the Family Court when the family is involved in high conflict or high risk situations. The noncustodial parent’s visitation is supervised by an adult who is not a party to the action. In this way, child(ren) can have visitation with their parents while still being protected from potentially dangerous situations. At the same time, the Supervisor is able to provide support for the parent-child relationship and assist the parent and child(ren) in having quality time together during trying situations.
